THE ART OF PRESENTATION, BY LAWYERS WHO HAVE EARNED THEIR STRIPES

TRIAL PRACTICE

A DRAMA IN REAL LIFE, IN REAL TIME

Trials are like staging a play with an unpredictable audience and no second chances. We understand these dynamics and know how to use them to our client’s benefit. We are real trial lawyers, not just litigators.

EXPERIENCE. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE.

The art of effective advocacy, written, oral, and visual, is what we do. We actually try cases. Lots of cases. Something that many lawyers with a litigation practice seldom do. All of our lawyers share something in common, a personality and character that allows them to relate to jurors, witnesses, and clients from every background and perspective.

We play the role of translators and story tellers, understanding our client’s case and fashioning the most effective way possible to communicate that to our audience, whether it is a jury, a single judge, or a panel of judges in an appellate court.

WINNING PERSONALITIES. WINNING CASES.

Robert Christie has tried scores of cases in diverse jurisdictions, state and federal court, over 33 years of trial practice. He has argued hundreds of successful summary judgment motions that resolved cases in his client’s favor before ever getting to trial.

A TRUE PARTNERSHIP, IN EVERY SENSE.

Mr. Christie and partner Tom Miller have prevailed on scores of summary judgment motions and have tried several cases each, ranging from employment discrimination to wrongful death. New partner Ann Trivett has successfully argued summary judgment motions in state and federal court, and has served as second chair in several major trials.  She has also prevailed in mandatory arbitration proceedings.  This depth of real courtroom experience is our stock in trade. And your peace of mind.

APPELLATE PRACTICE

THE STORIES BEHIND THE STORIES YOU READ IN THE PAPER

Mr. Christie began his career as a law clerk for the Honorable Vernon R. Pearson in his last year on the Division II Court of Appeals, in Tacoma. The following year (1982), Judge Pearson, an original appointee to the Court of Appeals when it was created in 1969, became Justice Pearson, finishing his career on the Washington State Supreme Court.

OVERALL EXPERTISE. OVER 3 DECADES.

This clerkship began a 33-year career for Mr. Christie as an accomplished appellate lawyer, successfully arguing cases before all divisions of the Washington Court of Appeals, the Washington State Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and two cases on briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court.

PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY

THE MOST VALUABLE ASSET IN OUR PRACTICE? YOUR REPUTATION

Medical doctors, dentists, chiropractors, lawyers, mental health professionals, insurance agents and brokers all put heart, soul – and reputation – on the line, daily. We have demonstrated an especially attuned sensitivity to the uniquely personal, specialized and individual nature of these cases.

We appreciate the challenges these cases present and the potential impact on the reputation of our client. To be sure, every case demands the highest level of client responsiveness and accountability towards securing a successful resolution.

Professional liability cases are uniquely compelling in this regard. We get that.

LAW ENFORCEMENT

A COURTROOM CAN BE AS DANGEROUS AS THE STREETS

You wouldn’t want to enter a situation with an unproven partner. Same goes for a lawsuit. Which is why CLG is your ally in resolving whatever issue you face.

WE HAVE YOUR BACK

In this particularly sensitive area, Robert L. Christie and the professionals at CLG have represented thousands of individual officers and scores of cities, counties, and port authorities across the state. We know the unique law in this practice area, teach it, and have used our experience to get hundreds of these cases dismissed in early motion practice.

ONE OF THE NORTHWEST’S TOP CIVIL RIGHTS ATTORNEYS

Mr. Christie has been recognized for his work in this area, recently named as one of the top civil rights attorneys in the area. He has served for more than a decade as co-chair of the subcommittee charged with drafting civil rights jury instructions for use in state court.

Civil rights practice is a particular strength of CLG. We have tried scores of cases, handled numerous inquest proceedings, and argued major constitutional issues before the Washington appellate courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and two cases on briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Professional liability cases are uniquely compelling in this regard. We get that.

EMPLOYER LIABILITY

ACTUALLY, WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW CAN HURT YOU

Employee claims against employers present risks and challenges well beyond the immediate lawsuit. These cases carry a high degree of exposure, with the potential for an award of attorney’s fees and tax relief to a successful plaintiff. We not only defend these cases, but teach employers how to avoid liability in the first place.

GENERAL LITIGATION

THE BEST PREDICTOR OF FUTURE SUCCESS? PAST SUCCESS

CLG is known throughout the Pacific Northwest for its litigation and real trial experience, based on handling thousands of cases over scores of years.

THE ART OF PREPARATION. THE CRAFT OF COMMUNICATION.

Accurately assessing case values, making strategic decisions about productive discovery efforts, and accurately predicting litigation outcomes for a wide variety of disputes comes from this depth of experience.  We understand the power of the visual art of communication, and bring this component to every case we handle.

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?

In addition to those areas covered in more detail, our litigation experience includes products liability, transportation litigation, construction defect, premise liability, personal injury, insurance coverage, commercial disputes, patent and trademark infringement, inquest proceedings, and disciplinary boards.

The core skills and breadth of expertise of CLG’s trial lawyers translate to proven success in these and many other types of disputes.   In mediations, trials, and appeals, Christie Law Group brings key insights and powerful experience to every case it handles.
